Creative Diasporas is a 501c3 nonprofit that supports and promotes artists whose lives and art are in transition between two cultures.

We embrace artists from all backgrounds and their diverse personal or family narratives of migration, whether persecution, displacement, exile, refuge, economic opportunity, or artistic community.

The arts have been nourished and invigorated over centuries by the gift of new ideas and techniques that accompany migrants in their often difficult journey and adjustment to a new home.

Diasporic artists, in turn, have to manage the complexity of multiple and shifting identities, the challenges of assimilation, nostlagia for a lost home (or a home experienced only in myth), economic and social precarity, and, most significantly, the outsider's acute, and often unwelcome understanding of their host culture. We invite you to share your story of diaspora. We will be a safe harbor to talk about and exhibit your art, and to document the day to day difficulties of artists establishing themselves in a new culture (e.g. immigration status, workspace, community) as well as established artists who continue to express themselves through the lens of a particular cultural tradition or diasporic narrative.

We will continue to shape our vision for Creative Diasporas. Your thoughts will be most welcome.

Warm regards,
